When you have a team full of superstars, it is extremely difficult for young players to breakthrough into the first team.
For a number of years, this has been the case at Real Madrid. However, during Zinedine Zidane’s second tenure at the club, he has been more willing to give some of the younger players a shot.
Rodrygo and Fede Valverde are two key examples. Even Vinicius Junior has been given a number of first team opportunities, despite the fact that he has failed to perform when given his chance.
So let’s have a look at some more Real Madrid players who may just be able to make their breakthrough in the side during 2020.
Javi Hernandez

Currently playing for Real Madrid Castilla, the left-back is a superb talent who loves to attack, making him a perfect fit for the club.
He made his name at Real Oviedo on loan where he burst into the first team, and now has become a key figure for the Real Madrid Castilla side. He has started 18 games for the side this season, and even bagged two goals from the left-back position.
With Marcelo now 31 years old, Hernandez will be hoping that he can get a chance in the near future to compete with Ferland Mendy for the left-back spot.
Adrian de la Fuente

De La Fuente is another key figure in the Real Madrid Castilla side. The centre back is a wonderful talent, and very much a modern day defender. Technically he is brilliant on the ball, and alongside his strong physique, he has all the attributes to be a really top centre back.
In a similar position to Hernandez, the Spaniard will know that Sergio Ramos is now 33 and approaching the end of his career. He will be hoping that he can make his way into the first team this year.
Alvaro Fidalgo

The captain of Real Madrid Castilla, Fidalgo has often been compared to Luka Modric. Agile, wily and creative, he possesses a lot of qualities that the Croatian midfielder does.
Despite making his debut for the senior side in the Copa del Rey last season, he has failed to really get any more opportunities in the first team. However, with Modric now a bit-part figure due to age, and Isco and Gareth Bale falling out of favour, Fidalgo may find himself with more opportunities in the Madrid side in the very near future.
Takefusa Kubo

Incredibly, Kubo used to play for Barcelona, and the La Liga champions even attempted to re-sign the 18-year-old this summer. However, Madrid pipped their rivals to the forward, and now seemingly have a special talent on their hands.
Now on loan at RCD Mallorca, Kubo will be hoping that some more good performances can convince Zidane to keep him at Los Blancos next season. Right now though, he continues to impress at Mallorca, and he is most definitely one to watch for the near future.
Reinier Jesus

Madrid are set to complete the signing of the 17-year-old Brazilian from Flamengo this month, and they will be hoping that they have unearthed yet another special talent.
Madrid enjoy signings young stars from Brazil, with Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior also both arriving from Flamengo and Santos respectively.
Despite being just 17, Reinier will be looking for opportunities to make his mark off the bench and in cup games, and with all the talent that he has, 2020 could very much be his breakthrough year.
