Richarlison said an emotional farewell to Everton fans after signing a five-year contract with Tottenham.
The Brazilian, 25, joins the North Londoners for a fee reported to be in the region of £60 million plus add-ons, bringing an end to his four-year stay at Goodison Park.
Richarlison has been capped 36 times since making his Selecao debut in 2018. He was a member of the team that won the Copa America in 2019 and the Olympic Games in 2020.
He scored 53 goals in 152 appearances for Everton, including 10 Premier League goals last season as Frank Lampard’s side nearly averted relegation to the Championship.
The South American remarked when he was departing the Merseysiders: “It’s difficult to say goodbye to a place that has become my home, to supporters who have embraced me as if I were one of them, in the stands, rather than just another player.
“A friendly club that helped me develop my feeling of community and empathy.
“There are no words to express my gratitude, nor does the love I have for this club. We’ll see you on the road! Evertonians, I adore you.”
Richarlison is Tottenham’s fourth summer addition, following the £25 million signing of Yves Bissouma from Brighton and the free signings of Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster.
The forward is anticipated to compete with Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son, and Dejan Kulusevski.
Alan Smith, a former Arsenal striker, told Sky Sports: “It’s a fantastic deal for the Spurs. With Antonio Conte and the strong position he’s in after qualifying for the Champions League, he’s obviously an ambitious manager who would have wanted money to bolster the squad, and he’s definitely got it.
“The Richarlison transaction is intriguing. He doesn’t instantly strike me as a Conte player, but he’s a really gifted young man with a strong desire to succeed.
“However, he can be temperamentally volatile, so I’m sure Conte will try to control him.
“Where will he be playing? When you pay that much for him, you want him to play, therefore he’ll probably be on the right side, with Heung-Min Son on the left and Harry Kane in the middle.
“If they can harness Richarlison’s powers, that’s quite a strike force.”
