Kylian Mbappe celebrates equalising against Argentina
Kylian Mbappe became the youngest player in World Cup history with ten goals as France drew level with Argentina in Sunday’s Qatar 2022 final.
The forward gave Les Bleus hope from the penalty spot in the 80th minute, before a magnificent volley even things up just 97 seconds later at Lusail Stadium, where Lionel Messi’s penalty kick and Angel Di Maria’s goal had appeared to put Argentina in charge.
Mbappe now has 11 goals at the World Cup, making him the youngest player to do so – aged 23 years 363 days – breaking Gerd Muller’s record (24 years, 226 days).
Along with Vava, Geoff Hurst, Pele, and Zinedine Zidane, the Paris Saint-Germain star became the fifth player to score three times in a World Cup final, having also scored against Croatia in the 2018 showpiece.
