Matthijs de Ligt claims that the respect he received from Bayern Munich’s management led him to join them from Juventus for an estimated £68 million.
The 22-year-old Dutchman moved from Ajax to Turin in 2019 and has quickly established himself as one of the world’s greatest young defenders.
De Ligt has signed a five-year deal with Bayern and will partner Dayot Upamecano, 23, at the heart of what the Bundesliga club hopes will be a rock-solid backline for years to come.

With 234 first-team appearances for Ajax and Juve, as well as 38 Netherlands caps, their new signing brings plenty of experience to the Allianz Arena.
The Bavarian powerhouse have dominated the German top division, winning their tenth title in a row last season.
Robert Lewandowski has left for Barcelona, but with De Ligt and Sadio Mane on the way, Bayern Munich is well positioned to prolong their domestic dominance and mount a European push.
