Arsenal won 1-0 at Leeds thanks to a first-half goal from Bukayo Saka, keeping them atop the Premier League table.
Saka scored emphatically 10 minutes before halftime as Arsenal won for the seventh time in ten league games this season.
Leeds, however, dominated the second period after half-time introduction of talisman Patrick Bamford and will be disappointed to have lost.
Leeds had another penalty decision in stoppage time, initially awarded by referee Chris Kavanagh, reversed after a VAR intervention after Bamford missed a penalty.
Kavanagh called time on the game less than a minute after it began when all match officials lost touch with the video assistant referee and goal-line technology due to a power outage.
Kavanagh led the players off the field to boos, and play did not continue for about 40 minutes.
Leeds showed no signs of fatigue as Luis Sinisterra caused Arsenal’s backline to withdraw before dragging a low attempt wide.
Sinisterra’s curling effort was deflected wide, and Pascal Struijk’s stabbing effort from the next corner was saved by Aaron Ramsdale.
After Martin Odegaard’s clever flick, Arsenal broke ominously down the other end, and Gabriel Jesus hoisted his shot over the crossbar.
Leeds, on the other hand, continued to threaten, with Rodrigo’s effort deflected over the crossbar before Brenden Aaronson curled a shot over the face of goal.
However, their promising start was ruined by Rodrigo’s erroneous pass deep in his own half, which led to Arsenal’s 35th-minute opening.
Odegaard and Saka linked up on the right side of the area, and the England winger smashed an angled shot into the roof of the net.
Leeds replaced Rodrigo at halftime with Bamford, who felt he had equalized within seconds of the restart before being penalized for a push on Gabriel.
After gaining control from William Saliba, Bamford was denied again, this time blazing straight at Ramsdale, as Leeds’ aggressive push worried Arsenal’s back four.
Leeds were granted a penalty for Saliba’s handball, which energized the home crowd even more.
Leeds’ appeals initially irked referee Kavanagh, who ultimately directed to the spot after reviewing the replay monitor, only for Bamford to fire wide.
Leeds, undeterred by the loss, increased the pressure.
Bamford, who was causing havoc for the Gunners, was crowded out in the area as another chance went begging, and was then awarded a penalty after colliding with Gabriel.
The referee’s assistant signaled the Gunners’ defender for an apparent kick on Bamford, and he was issued a red card before Kavanagh pointed to the spot.
However, following another VAR intervention, Bamford was deemed to have shoved Gabriel first, and Kavanagh overturned his penalty verdict as well as the defender’s red card.
Leeds then wasted another chance to equalize deep into added time when replacement Crysencio Summerville shot over after superb work from Bamford and Aaronson.
