The ‘reds’ coach explained that all the positives from last week’s outbreak on his team were false except for Alexander-Arnold
Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp stated that the Civud outbreak that forced the postponement of the first leg of the English League Cup semi-finals between the ‘reds’ and Arsenal last Thursday included a majority of false positives, given that Trent Alexander-Arnold’s was the only confirmed one.
Liverpool asked the Premier to reschedule Thursday’s meeting, at the Emirates, due to a “severe outbreak” of Covid. On Sunday, Klopp’s team eliminated Shrewsbury Town (from the Third Division) in the 30th FA Cup and the coach of the ‘reds’ had to start 4 young people.
“We had a lot of false positives, but the rules are the way they are, so all these players couldn’t play,” Klopp said. “The only real positive was Alexander-Arnold,” added the Liverpool manager. Klopp tested positive on January 1.
In FA Cup Fabinho achieved a double, while Kaide Gordon and Roberto Firmino also scored. Liverpool came back a bit from Udoh. Now the Anfield team will host Arsenal in the League Cup semi-final first leg on Thursday before the return leg on 20 January at the Emirates Stadium. Thus, Klopp’s team was left without the advantage of playing the second round at home.
