Kiyan Prince has been added to the Queens Park Rangers squad on FIFA 21 by EA SPORTS to mark the 15th anniversary of this tragic death in 2006, as well as being re-signed by the Championship club for the 2021/22 season, assigned the number 30 shirt and listed with the squad in all matchday programmes.
Kiyan was a talented youth player at QPR until his life was cruelly cut short aged 15. He was fatally stabbed while trying to break up a fight at his school.
EA SPORTS developers have worked closely with Kiyan’s family, friends and former teammates and coaches in order to integrate him into FIFA 21. Images from his teenage years have been aged to create his in-game appearance, with his on-field characteristics and style of play shaped by discussions with those who had known and worked with him as a player.
Kiyan will wear the 20/21 adidas Copa boot in the game, while his likeness will be seen on iconic billboards at Piccadilly Circus and Oxford Street as part of a JD Sports advertising campaign.
To honour Kiyan, his father, Dr Mark Prince OBE, continues to inspire and empower vulnerable young people through the Foundation named for his son.
“I want my son to be remembered not for the tragedy of his death but for the triumph of his achievements,” Mark explained.
“Through this campaign my hope is that the world finally gets to glimpse Kiyan’s incredible potential fulfilled. We get to honour his talent. And, hopefully, we can inspire other kids to honour their own talent too – whatever their own strengths might be.”
Kiyan was previously remembered in FIFA 20 when a QPR tifo in his image was an unlockable reward in Ultimate Team mode. Kiyan’s story was also told by 90min last summer in a Football Stories feature, including a touching interview with his father.
