Before finalizing his move to Barcelona, Franck Kessie sought guidance from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The Ivory Coast international has joined the LaLiga giants on a free transfer after winning the Serie A title with Milan last season.
Ibrahimovic, a legendary Rossoneri striker, has previously represented Barcelona, helping the Blaugrana win the league in 2009-10.
When considering his own move, Kessie sought the advice of Sweden’s veteran striker.
“He stated it was a good spot,” Kessi explained. “He advised me to work hard.”
However, both Kessie and fellow new addition Andreas Christensen will have to wait, with Barcelona president Joan Laporta acknowledging the club’s inability to register either player.
The Catalan club’s financial difficulties have been well publicized, and the pay cost within their team will need to be reduced to suit their new players.
Laporta is convinced they will be able to accomplish it without significant changes to their team’s makeup, adding: “We have the utmost regard for our players.
“We are working on a cooperative understanding with whom the coach does not have. Sports administration is performing admirably.
“It is difficult because the players we want have contracts that are identical to their present ones. Most people believe they can persuade the coach. Logic will triumph.”
