Benzema is 'outraged' with France manager Didier Deschamps
The rift between Didier Deschamps and Karim Benzema, who was ruled out by France a few dates before the start of the World Cup due to an injury that according to some opinions could have allowed the Real Madrid striker to play games after the round of 16, has made the Ballon d’Or almost en persona non grata in the environment of the combined ‘bleu’.
The coach is very angry with the attitude of the man who was targeting one of the great stars of the team in this World Cup. He understands that he has not added to the national team, despite having been part of the group that started the pre-World Cup concentration and having coached all of them.
In the time that Benzema has been out of concentration, the white striker has had practically no message of encouragement towards his teammates, who have been overcoming rounds in Qatar until standing in the final this Sunday against Argentina.
This same Thursday, when the French coach was asked about the possibility of Benzema being ‘claimed’ for the final, he limited himself to commenting that “I am not going to answer, next question”. And this Saturday, at the press conference prior to the final, he was equally emphatic.
“If I don’t answer the questions about Karim, you’ll say I’m angry.” There are players who have been injured before the World Cup and Benzema was one of them. The last one is Lucas Hernández. From then on he had 24 players. Focus on others are uncomfortable, to say the least. I don’t deal with the invitations to players, ex-players or injured, I don’t know who will come. We have all lost out to these injuries. They were all part of the beginning of the adventure, but tomorrow it will be 24″. And point ball.
Deschamps wants not to dedicate an ounce of energy to this issue, not to detract from the prominence of the true heroes of France’s qualification for the final, which are the players who are in Qatar beating copper.
And all of this has led to a situation that is at least curious, which is none other than the desire of the national team that Karim not appear this Sunday in the final in which he could have been the protagonist.
Let’s remember that Benzema will be officially crowned world champion if France defeats Argentina on Sunday: the player, due to technical and medical indications, left the concentration area at the beginning of the tournament but was not replaced or ‘deleted’ from the official call. Hence, he has appeared as a substitute in all the matches in France, and FIFA confirmed at the time that if the Frenchmen are champions, one of the 26 medals destined for the players will go to Karim Benzema.
In this state of affairs, the striker’s publication of a photo of himself on his Instagram account and the enigmatic message ‘Ça ne m’intéresse pas” ( “This doesn’t matter to me”) has fueled the controversy over whether he is referring to his relationship with Deschamps, the World Cup final, or some other matter.
