Courtois won the prize for the best goalkeeper in the 2021-22 season, beating off Alisson, Ederson, Edouard Mendy, and Mike Maignan.
Alisson of Liverpool finished second to Courtois, who led Real Madrid to a Champions League final victory over the Reds in Paris last season.
The Belgian international’s brilliance in the match undoubtedly earned him the top prize and helped him finish seventh in the Ballon d’Or voting.
In a 1-0 victory, Courtois made nine saves, a final record since Opta data was initially collected in 2003-04, and stopped 2.5 goals, according to anticipated goals on target data.
