Thomas Tuchel was fined £20,000 and warned about his future behavior after making comments about referee Anthony Taylor following Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham.
The Football Association (FA) has sanctioned the Blues manager, who was enraged by what he saw as errors by the Manchester official during the match at Stamford Bridge earlier this month.
Tuchel claimed that neither of Tottenham’s goals should have stood, claiming that Richarlison blocked Edouard Mendy’s line of sight from an offside position when Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg leveled, and that Cristian Romero pulled Marc Cucurella’s hair in the build-up to Harry Kane’s late equalizer.
Following an altercation with Spurs manager Antonio Conte, the German later stated that “it would be better” if Taylor no longer officiated his team’s matches.
“I can assure you that every single person in our dressing room, every single person,” he said during his post-match press conference.
“An independent Regulatory Commission has ordered Chelsea FC’s Thomas Tuchel to be fined £20,000 and warned about his future conduct for breaching FA Rule E3.1 during a post-match press conference on Sunday 14 August 2022,” the FA said in a statement.
“The manager admitted that his comments following their Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur FC constituted improper conduct because they imply bias, call the match referee’s integrity into question, and bring the game into disrepute.”
